- A wooden chest. One Greek word serves Noah's vessel (6:14–8:19; Matt 24:38; Heb 11:7; 1 Pet 3:20) and the chest of the covenant (Exod 25:10; Heb 9:4; Rev 11:19), where the Masoretic version has two words, תֵּבָה "box" and אָרוֹן "chest." "Ark" is the English of both in the KJV
