1 This is the family history of Noah's sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Sons were born to them after the flood. 2 Japheth's sons were Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras. 3 Gomer's sons were Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah. 4 Javan's sons were Elishah, Tarshish, the Kittim, and the Dodanim. 5 From these the coastlands of the nations separated in their lands. Each had its own language, by their clans, in their nations. 6 Ham's sons were Cush, Egypt, Put, and Canaan. 7 Cush's sons were Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabteca. Raamah's sons were Sheba and Dedan. 8 Cush became the father of Nimrod. He began to be a mighty one in the land.

9 He was a mighty hunter in the face of the LORD. That is why people say, "Like Nimrod, a mighty hunter in the face of the LORD." 10 The beginning of his kingdom was Babylon, Erech, Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar. 11 From that land Assyria went out and built Nineveh, Rehoboth City, Calah, 12 and Resen, between Nineveh and Calah. That is the great city. 13 Egypt became the father of the Ludim, the Anamim, the Lehabim, the Naphtuhim, 14 the Pathrusim, the Casluhim (the Philistines came from there), and the Caphtorim. 15 Canaan became the father of Sidon, his firstborn, and of Heth, 16 and of the Jebusites, the Amorites, the Girgashites,

17 the Hivites, the Arkites, the Sinites, 18 the Arvadites, the Zemarites, and the Hamathites. Later the clans of the Canaanites were scattered. 19 The border of the Canaanites ran from Sidon toward Gerar, to Gaza. Then it ran toward Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim, as far as Lasha. 20 These are the sons of Ham, by their clans and their languages, in their lands and their nations. 21 Children were also born to Shem. He was the father of all the sons of Eber, the brother of Japheth the great. 22 Shem's sons were Elam, Assyria, Arpachshad, Lud, and Aram. 23 Aram's sons were Uz, Hul, Gether, and Mash. 24 Arpachshad became the father of Shelah, and Shelah became the father of Eber.

25 Two sons were born to Eber. One was named Peleg, because in his time the land was divided. His brother was named Joktan. 26 Joktan became the father of Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah, 27 Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah, 28 Obal, Abimael, Sheba, 29 Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab. All these were Joktan's sons. 30 The land where they lived ran from Mesha toward Sephar, the mountain of the east. 31 These are the sons of Shem, by their clans and their languages, in their lands, by their nations. 32 These are the clans of Noah's sons, by their family lines, in their nations. From these the nations separated in the land after the flood.
