Note

A cult statue (Num 33:52; 2 Kgs 11:18; Ezek 7:20; Amos 5:26), the thing the second commandment forbids: the human is the one licit icon. The LXX εἰκών supplies the cognate because the Hebrew gloss is open (5), and English has "icon" in the living sense of a representing image; cf. 1 Cor 11:7; Col 1:15
