- Sleep sent by Adonai and the sleep of revelation: Abram's (15:12, with "a dread, a great darkness"), Saul's camp (1 Sam 26:12, "a trance from Adonai"), the night visions (Job 4:13; 33:15), the prophets' blinding (Isa 29:10). LXX ἔκστασις here and at 15:12. The verb רָדַם is to sleep heavily (Jonah 1:5–6).
